Tackling Localization and Animation

My work began with translating text cards into various languages and resizing the artwork to accommodate different layouts. It was a manual and detail-oriented process, but it ensured every version fit perfectly within the localized context.

From there, I prepared the end slate artwork for each deliverable. This included:

  • Adding the correct platform logos for each version.

  • Updating text for legal requirements and regional differences.

  • Including appropriate bug ratings like ESRB, PEGI, and USK.
I exported these slates in multiple formats and handed them off to the localization editor, who paired them with the correct video for final delivery

When Secret Powers landed the opportunity to create the global teaser trailer for Persona 5 Royal’s multi-platform release, it was clear this would be a massive undertaking. With translations into multiple languages (Spanish, Italian, German, and French), different game ratings (PEGI, ESRB, and USK), and deliverables for platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Switch, and PC—this project was as complex as it was exciting.

Shifting to Quality Control

Once the assets were prepped, I switched gears into QC mode. This involved meticulously reviewing hundreds of deliverables to ensure accuracy across the board. I double-checked:

  • Platform logos and mnemonics for consistency.

  • Aspect ratios, runtimes, and codecs for compatibility.

  • Text alignment, spelling, and game ratings for accuracy—even in languages I don’t speak!

Working alongside a partner, we systematically tackled this monumental task, ensuring that every deliverable met the highest standards.

The Final Result

From updating artwork to ensuring flawless localization and QC, I played a small but essential role in this massive project. The result? A global teaser trailer that was polished, precise, and ready to introduce Persona 5 Royal to players around the world.

It’s not every day you get to contribute to a project with such global reach, and I’m proud to have been a part of it. Even in a supporting role, it’s rewarding to see how thoughtful attention to detail can make a big impact.
